This is as up-to-date a picture as you might ever receive from the Lampes. It was taken at the beach last summer. We got tired of people saying, "Oh, is that how so and so used to look when they were young!" This is how we all looked just last summer, 2009. Dad lost his job teaching and is really missing it but is learning to rejoice in the Lord. And you might notice a lot of kids on those steps. Mom is still working and bringing home the bacon. John is still working at keeping the internet a safe place to roam. Kelley is starting out a new career as a cosmetologist. All the children are in school. We have three teen drivers as of now but others are speeding along to get their own cars. Dan is coaching and teaching. He still aims at that first state championship. Liz is also teaching, in charge of the computer lab. But I think her hardest job is comforting Dan when his team is down. Billy is still moving up at his job in machine design. Rebekah is busy teaching and helping other families. She is sort of a teacher/family counselor. The second generation Lampes and their families attend church that teaches and preaches the Word of God. David is finishing up at Bible School and seeking the Lord concerning his future.

There are many things we could rejoice in at this time of year and we do but the Scriptures tell us (imperative mood) to rejoice in the Lord. We could count many things as gain to us: jobs, loved ones, freedom and UGA football. "But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." Jesus is the reason for the season. Knowing Jesus is the reason for life. As we celebrate God's coming to earth, let us "press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

A cup of hot chocolate and a time of prayer together would be a wonderful gift. Thinking of you,
