Christmas Greetings from Wes, Terrie, and Family
"When are you going to retire?" We hear it at work. We hear
it at Church. We hear it from friends. We hear it from family. We even
hear it from each other. So when are we going to retire? Probably next year! But we have
been saying that since we were 65 and in 2008 we will both be over 70.
But think about it. Why would we allow a number to tell us what to do?
What are years? They are but days. What are days but time that we can
use to do whatever God directs? If God directs us to retire, we believe
it will be to do something else. So that won't be retiring either. When
we can no longer do what God has for us to do, then we will retire and
go home. God will let us know when to retire from teaching
to get involved with another ministry. We could be fired or forced to
quit because of health but only God can retire us. "Even so come, Lord
Jesus."
Dan gets his first coaching job this fall. His girls'
varsity basketball team is doing very well. As of this writing,
the team is undefeated in the girls' quad A division. Liz started
working last year as a technical support in the same high school where
Tori, 9th grade, attends and where Dan teaches and coaches.
Tori ran cross country . She will also be playing soccer.
Jake, 7th grade, plays in the boys' JV basketball team.
Alie was chosen from her school,to sing in a state wide elementary
choral group in October. Liz and Terrie attended the occasion and
both were mighty proud. She also plays soccer.
John, Kelley, Trevor, Halie,
and MiKhala are as busy as the rest of us. Trevor, 9th grade,
turned 15 on Nov. 30 and he now has his driver learner's permit.
Halie is in the 7th grade, does drama at school, and helps with the
football team. MiKhala, 6th grade, is the youngest of the cheer
leading squad at school. Kelley helps out at our school
with
cheer leading, touchdown club, and other things. John is busy with his
job plus another
business with Dan developing software for schools. He also helps out
coaching the school's football team. Trevor is playing on the team this
year. It does
not look like
they are heading to the state tournament but you never know. It's
great to have Trevor, Halie, and MiKhala
greeting me at school each day as "Grandpa."
Billy, Rebekah, Anthony, Zak, and Loren are still in North Carolina.
Besides his job designing packaging machines, he is busy around their
acreage with a new tractor they got from Florida. Rebekah is back
teaching High School math this fall. The family is pretty involved in
their church. Anthony, 9th grade, plays soccer and is learning to play
guitar. Zak, 1st grade is quite a reader, lokes to put things together,
andother engineer perhaps, and Loren is the little mommy. She is now 5
years and attends a kindergarden. She can sing!
